Turning north along the Pacific coast, Puerto Quetzal may tempt you with its beautifully preserved Spanish colonial town, filled with cobbled plazas and centuries- old churches painted in bright pastel shades. Mexico’s laid-back ‘Cabo’ beckons next with its breath-taking bay, which is perfect for basking in the sun and exploring by kayak. With an overnight in San Francisco, you have ample time to enjoy its many charms, including Fisherman’s Wharf and riding the iconic cable cars, or go further afield to the Napa Valley or stroll among the towering redwoods of Muir Woods. Striking out across the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean you arrive in the breath-taking scenery of Hawaii where a thriving Polynesian spirit is still evident in modern Honolulu. Try your hand at surfing lessons on iconic Waikiki Beach, or pay an evocative visit to Pearl Harbour. Before reaching the lush delights of Samoa, which is almost exactly halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii, you cross both the International Date Line and the equator.
