Inspired by the iconic big bands of the 30’s and 40’s, Cunard’s Big Band Ball combines hugely talented musicians from across the ship to create a swinging 17-piece orchestra, accompanied by vocalists performing a nostalgic repertoire of Big Band classics in the Queens Room for one very special evening. Queen Elizabeth will be taking the Big Band Ball to Asia, on a seven-night sailing between Singapore and Hong Kong, whilst Queen Victoria will host her Ball on a short break in the Summer, to Rotterdam and Bruges/Brussels. London Theatre at Sea With The Olivier Awards. Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing u 13 May 2020 u M013 This special crossing will showcase Olivier Award winning talent both on and off stage. Enjoy insights from performers and creatives as we take you behind the scenes to explore the secrets of putting on a show. Hear unique insight lectures on London theatre, participate in workshops from productions’ award winning design teams, or come and be a part of the on board dance group or sing with the on board West End Choir. This will be the chance to experience the very best that London Theatre has to offer and is a must for any theatre lover. Transatlantic Music Week Eastbound Transatlantic Crossing 23 October 2020 u M035A Queen Mary 2’s first Transatlantic Music Week debuts in October 2020. Our outstanding on board musicians will be joined by special guests for wide-ranging performances in venues all round the ship, while Q&A’s and workshops will give a unique insight into the world of music across a breadth of genres. A Journey of Genealogy COMMEMORATING MAYFLOWER In association with Ancestry. Westbound Transatlantic Crossing 14 August 2020 u M025 Queen Mary 2’s Journey of Genealogy returns in 2020, and this special crossing will mark the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower voyage. In 1620, the first English Puritans, known today as the Pilgrims, set sail from England to the New World. Prior to leaving the ship they signed the Mayflower Compact, a document which established a rudimentary form of democracy and legal order. Events on board will commemorate the significance of this iconic journey and we welcome back Ancestry for their second crossing. Ancestry experts will host talks themed around the historic Mayflower voyage and the stories of the passengers that made that journey. They will investigate the descendants of our founder Sir Samuel Cunard, and offer the opportunity to trace your family tree through the centuries and find out how your DNA connects you to the world. Festival of Food &Wine In association with The Times and The Sunday Times. Westbound Transatlantic Crossing u 7 June 2020 u M017 Indulging in a delicious variety of food is always a highlight on a Cunard voyage and with our extensive wine list of more than 400 wines, from 23 countries, there’s always something new to try. However, in June 2020, there will be even more opportunities in which to indulge, as our flagship Queen Mary 2 hosts our first ever Festival of Food & Wine, on a Transatlantic Crossing with a twist. Our Festival of Food & Wine will bring together experts from the culinary world for a week-long celebration. You’ll be joined by food and wine experts from The Times and The Sunday Times to host talks, tastings, and Q&A’s about all things gastronomical. In addition, a tempting array of cooking demonstrations and events will be on offer throughout your voyage, which promises to be a delight for food and drink lovers everywhere.
